Oh Muslims! Oh Brothers and Sisters in Islam (Deenul haqq – Religion of Truth), Remember those times when we just sit down and keep wondering why and how come the ummah is in the weak state that it is? Why is it that although muslims constitute almost a quarter of the world’s population yet we hardly have a say in dictating world affairs? And even though we muslims are mostly the victims of calculated violence, terrorism and all sorts of atrocities, yet we are almost all the time labelled as the aggressors?? I’m sure we all must have at a point in life sat down to meditate on such things. Well, brothers and sisters in Islam, an example of why the sorry situation of the ummah persists are the event of last nights and the reactions of today. I woke up this morning and while going through updates on my bbm, I kept seeing personal messages and display pics of non-muslims and sadly muslims with messages like: “RIP Whitney Houston…You will forever be remembered” and many more similar messages. Keep in mind that the prophet (SAW) said: Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. This is a mushrikah that died and here are muslims who are supposed to be submitting to will and commands of Allah(SWT) grieving and sending messages of love affection to someone who died while rejecting Allah and His Messenger (SAW), someone who died committing the greatest of dhulm (disbelief, rebelliousness) forgetting with sheer ignorance and heedlessness that Allah (SWT) said: innash shirka la dhulmun adheem : indeed, shirk is the greatest dhulm. Oh Muslims, Oh Brothers and Sisters in Islam, where are you when muslims are being killed in Afghanistan and Iraq by invading and crusading forces?? Where are you when scores of muslims are being killed daily by secular dictators all over the arab world? Where are you when muslims are being killed regularly by pilotless drones in Pakistan?? Where are you when the scholars of Islam, people who say the truth as it is are being imprisoned for life or killed?? Where were you when hundreds probably thousands of muslims in 2009 in Maiduguri were asked to lie down on the floor and being shot directly in the chest so as not to waste bullets in killing muslims?? Where were you when scores of muslims were slaughtered like lambs and sheep after Eid prayers in Jos and their bodies were roasted and eaten by their killers (in the astonishment of men and women alike who took delight while that was going on)??? Oh muslims, Oh brothers and sisters in Islam, You grieved not while all these heinous acts took place yet you grieve for a person who died committing shirk and who lived a live propagating al-munkar!! Oh muslims, where did you drop your identity as muslims and adopted a different identity which has done nothing than weaken the ummah and cause bloodshed among the muslim brethren?? Indeed, not much have been achieved with the strength of the numbers of muslims. Oh muslims, Oh brothers and sisters in islam, does it not amaze you that although the global population of Jews is hardly more than the population of Kano and Kaduna combined, yet the influence they exert over world affairs is astronomically high?? Oh muslims, Oh brothers and sisters in Islam, does it not bother you that the quality of a thing is far more important than quantity?? Has the shift in the balance of power in this country within the last few years not made you realise that real strength resides in quality rather than quantity?? Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change that is within themselves. Allah (SWT) says:
You will not find in people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), even though they were their fathers, or their Sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people). Surah 58:22.May Allah guide us to become better and more practical muslims sticking to our true identity. May Allah improve the quality of muslims all over the world. Ameen!

Loss of a Golden-Heart

I don’t know his real name. I never knew and never bother to ask. Chairman—as he’s called or rather, “Chairmo” as others fondly call him—was one of the greatest people I’ve ever come across. I don’t know what he do for a living but I know for sure, he herds cows before the Muslims’ Big sallah (which animals are sacrificed) and of course, make a great deal of money out of it.

He’s probably one of the richest people I’ll ever know and don’t get it twisted—not material rich which are likely to fade—wealthy as in richness of the soul. It doesn’t matter whether the property is his or not, be rest assured he’ll give it the maximum security and protection he can provide. He’s ever ready to stretch out a helping hand and you don’t have to be an adult or a friend to get the “Peace be upon you” or “how have you been?” or “Take care” from him. That one person that is reliable, responsible and highly contented.

He has 1 wife, 3 kids and all live in this kind of rented houses in which a renter is entitled to a single room (serving as both living and bedroom) and share one toilet and kitchen (with the rest of the renters). All housemates sleep in fear whenever the raining season matures because there’s every tendency at least one mud wall (most likely the one going round the compound or toilet) will collapse.

He is building a house. It has provision for his cattle and enough rooms to accommodate his family and visitors. He’s been so keen about moving out to his house. He’s been talking about “his house”. Who would have thought he was referring to his final abode? SubhaanAllah! Lord have mercy on us!!

31st January 2012, is one date many (if not all) of the people in Maikafi Crescent will not forget anytime soon. Aid was needed as a teenage boy–who entered a well to re-start a water pump engine–and another man (who was supposedly rescuing the boy) couldn’t come out of the well when Chairmo left what he was doing (actually, taking sugarcane) to their rescue. He brought out the boy but didn’t succeed with the man before collapsing back into the well (due to the presence of carbondioxide as well). Eye witnesses said he complained that his legs were being dragged (by God-knows-what) before he finally went mute. A youth who couldn’t stand losing them jumped into the well before he could be stopped and before the fire brigade could come to the rescue (Naija things). He succeeded in bringing out both bodies—yes, bodies—as chairmo too was already dead. This is a loss I doubt time will ever heal. From Allah we come, and to Him we shall return. The teenage boy passed away too yesterday in the morning that is leaving just the youth as survivor. May their soul rest in perfect peace (Amen).

Okay, this is my first post on this blog and to be honest, I never thought something of this nature would be my first. I was awake somewhere around midnight on the 23rd (January, 2012) when Japheth Omojuwa began to micro-blog all these–as his site was under construction–on twitter. In his own words; “I chose to share #breedingbokoharam late hour because to be up now means you most likely like scary movies”. But this isn’t another scary movie. This is what is happening around us. Everyone needs to know. Read…

In Borno, voters ask you for two major things; “give us water” and “fight drug abuse” yet politicians act helpless.

Boko Haram has millions of willing tools in the number of deprived children in Borno.

Boko haram will grow from strength to strength. Poverty breeds it, deprivation feeds it, and a clueless leadership cultivated it.

A 10-minute drive away from Maiduguri and you are totally out of civilization. These folks have been left alone.

JTF members unleash terror on the people, call them names and mess around with their women.

The president has never visited Maiduguri. it is easy to visit Kano. It is an influential emirate.

9-year old children in Borno are mostly drug addicts like their adult brothers. They are lost and forgotten

Before the mass media brought them to the fore, Boko Haram had killed hundreds and still does in Borno.

The Northeast barely got 3% of project spending by Nigeria’s Federal Government. South-south has 85%.

You think you know poverty? You don’t! Visit poverty, real absolute sheer poverty in Borno.

The state and federal government are breeding Boko Haram of tomorrow.

In Borno, JTF is a symbol of hatred. Can they solve a problem they don’t understand without the people’s help?

The politicians up there intentionally kept the people poor, uneducated and psychologically beaten.

I saw pictures of the children, of truth; I thought I was looking at children from the Somalian war.

While my contact related her story, she was visibly shaking. Shaken mostly by her experience with JTF.

My spirit hurts even as I heard the stories. The videos played in my head but imagine the real torture out there.

Calling Boko Haram attacks “dastardly act” and saying “full wrath of the law” means nothing.

The only time President Jonathan visited Maiduguri was to beg for their votes. God will judge.

The pain politicians have unleashed on our people only God can fairly reward them.

The past governor of the state is on the run from Boko Haram but they’ve had him in their hands several times.

Am I justifying Boko Haram? Only someone suffering from Goodluckism will say that. I am stating the truth.

JTF scares the people. They are more afraid of JTF than they are of Boko Haram. How can they help JTF?

Except the government see the problem clearly, Jonathan be right about “a burden we must live with”

How many poor children will turn down the opportunity to join Boko Haram for say even N200/day?

They sent 3 men to shake Ali modu. They then called to say 3 of their men were the ones that just shook hm.

They wanted Ali Modu to know if they wanted to kill him, he’d have been gone. Those 3 men were armed.

This is truth everyone knows or are afraid to say it or too blind to admit it. Truth is the key to liberty.

Our education has really failed. I am putting Boko Haram in its perspective and a graduate says I am justifying.

You can’t solve a problem you don’t understand. I still told my web master that today. Tell Jonathan too.

So today I sat there and saw pains, fury and sadness in the eyes of a beautiful lady and she shared stories.

As long as all realities I painted remain and the government’s nonchalant cluelessness stays, it’d be worse.

If only the president cared beyond squeezing his face for cameras at bomb sites…

I am certain those who wanted to do learn a thing or 2 about Boko Haram. I am still asking questions.
